"We Have an Anchor" to premier at EMPAC - Friday, April 27 at 8pm

A new show of projected images with live music, commissioned by EMPAC, the experimental media and performing arts center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, will premier this friday. The show consists of footage shot over the past ten years in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, with texts and live music... Musicians are Guy Picciotto (Fugazi), T.Griffin (Quavers), Jim White (Dirty Three), Jessica Moss (Silver Mt. Zion), and Sophie Trudeau and Efrim Menuck. (SMZ and Godspeed You! Black Emperor).

GRAVITY HILL NEWSREELS INSTALLATION OPENING AT TIFF LIGHTBOX

A new installation of Cohen's 12 newsreels about Occupy Wall Street will premiere in Toronto on Weds. 22 in the Bell Lightbox atrium. Running from Feb. 22nd-March 23rd, the installation is presented in conjunction with the Reel Artists Film Festival.

GALLERY SHOW IN NYC; LIVE SHOW and RETROSPECTIVE in MEXICO CITY

There will be a reception on March 28th, 6-8 for Jem and Patti Smith, whose show, VEIL, runs concurrently in the gallery.March 26 will bring the Mexico city premiere of MANIFESTO D.F., an evening of Mexican city portrait films shot on 16mm, with live soundtracks by T. Griffin, Guy Picciotto, Andy Moor, DJ Rupture, and Sonido Changorama. LONG FOR THE CITY (10 min., 2008) plays at MoMA

LONG FOR THE CITY  (9 minutes) made in collaboration with Patti Smith in 2008, will show at the Museum of Modern Art in a program of recent works shot on Super 8 (it's part of their Documentary Fortnight series).

EVENING'S CIVIL TWILIGHT IN EMPIRES OF TIN on NOV. 1

Jem will present a program of projected films for live music, EVENING'S CIVIL TWILIGHT IN EMPIRES OF TIN, at the Viennale

(Vienna Film Festival) on Nov.1st. He will be joined for the project by Vic Chesnutt, members of Silver Mt. Zion, Guy Picciotto, T.Griffin and Catherine McRae.

A dvd of this show is currently in the works.
